The story of Charles Hicks.
Charles Hicks, was born in Boone, North Carolina, and was raised in the small town of Wilkesboro, he was a young man who grew up with dreams in his heart, and ambition in his voice, he knew from a young age he had an affiliation for the musical arts, listening to classic Rock and Roll, and the old fashioned bluegrass songs of his family bloodline. He tasted the joys of making music which caused him to first pick up an instrument. Charles was involved with many musical subjects and extracurricular activities while in school, such as Chorus and Band, and though he enjoyed both of these, he knew where his soul was when he first plucked the strings of a guitar.
The loud lacerations of Rock and Roll, the soft but sharp chords strung of the old-time songs passed down from his own blood. Growing up in a small town Charles had experienced both love and loss, friendship and hardship, all of which he incorporates into his songs.
Not only is Charles a musician but he is also a craftsman, someone who believes the joy of music and song comes from the soul within man, not from some manufactured corporate machine. He writes about his life experiences and how he felt facing the pain of life, and embracing the joys of growing up. When you listen to Charles Hicks you listen to the songs of a young man coping with his emotions, and fighting for his dreams. It's through his songs that he paints picture of a young boy sitting in a pickup truck while everything seems so large around him, and the only thing to calm his nerves is the static sound of Elton John on the radio, he draws a portrait of a teenager longing for the love of his adolescent life, while still holding on to the dreams he has to put first.
More important than all of that, when Charles sings his songs, he isn’t telling you a story, more than he is inviting you to be a part of it.
It's through his lyrics of passion and heartbreak, that you can understand him, and it's because of that, that sets him apart from the rest of your average corporate mandated sludge that comes from people who just can't understand what it's like to fight for your dreams.
With a heart filled with the passion of a dreamer, and the mind of a man who simply wants to make a difference in the world, Charles asks you to be a part of his story.
A story, which you don’t want to miss.
